Abstract
One of the major problem of political liberalism is to give sufficient normative strength to the principles of a liberal politics inside contemporary societies. Larmore's hypothesis is that liberalism must be neutral amongst different life-projects, but constraining in regard of a minimal core of morality shared by all citizens. Larmore recognizes in rational dialogue and in equal respect the general principles of this core morality. This is an approach that, while allowing a justification, ethically neutral, of liberal neutrality, understimates the cultural and historical requirements of its actual fulfilment.
