Abstract
Starting from a relationship between philosophy of history and prediction of european politics, Donoso Cortés considers Russia not like a bulwark of the european system (which was born from the Congress of Vienna), but like an unlimited power. As the 1848 events show, Russia is ready to make an agreement with the other unlimited power, the european revolution. This synthesis is the basis for the geopolitics of disaster which will be leading to the final turning of european civilization, identified by Donoso with the 'catholic civilization'.
