Abstract
The essay deals with Norberto Bobbio's distinction between negative and positive liberty, recently reproposed in his volume on "Uguaglianza e Libertà", published in 1995. On author's opinion, Bobbio's analysis reduces the difference between these two kinds of liberty to the only difference between choice and action. A better comprehension should consider the concepts of capacity and opportunity, too.
