Abstract

The article analyzes Peter Sloterdijk's ambitious project "Sphären" - published in three volumes between 1998 and 2004. The article's focus is on the third volume ("Schäume") and the importance it can have for a political reflection on contemporaneity. The philosopher deals with the air as constitutive element of the political space, where the "atmo-terrorism", which can be traced back to the First World War, has in the aerial war one of its many forms of environmental destruction. According to Sloterdijk a similar terrorism can in the future represent the decisive weapon for a total control of the earth, evolving to a global manipulation of the climate.
