Abstract
The Author critically discusses the historiographical approach to Marsilius' "Defensor pacis" in terms of "traditions" and "sources". The note focuses on the notion of political Aristotelism, showing its ambivalence and irreducibility to a doctrinal corpus. Far away from anticipating a pre-modern concept of parliamentary legislation, Marsilius' political innovation still focuses on the idea of human legislator conceived as the autonomy of the human being in his natural politicalness.
