Abstract

This paper investigates the presence of the present instead of the future (presente pro futuro) in the history of Italian grammars. By consulting of the works available in the Accademia della Crusca’s digital library, online documentation (in particular in Google Books) and manual excerpts of the most recent texts, we intend to form an overall picture of the grammars and studies, including contemporary ones, that present this verbal use.
