Abstract
Giovanni Pascoli’s poem "Il fringuello cieco", mostly interpreted as a statement of skepticism, can instead be read as a poetic autobiography, in which the story of an arduous approach to poetry is narrated: from a first period of comedy, to the time of tragedy and blindness, to the last one of the aoidos and of the canzone.
