Abstract
The recent discussion in the Italian Parliament of the law entitled «Non-cognitive skills in school» has launched a broad debate on the issue that has inevitably also affected the psychological disciplines. This article is part of this debate. It critically analyzes the construct of non-cognitive skills after having outlined its genesis and evolutionary path. It proposes articulating the «psychosocial resources» for academic success, also based on research and intervention experiences recently conducted in lower secondary schools.
