Abstract
We report on the case of a patient presenting with frequent episodes of kleptomania marking the onset of a neurodegenerative disease. This symptom is interpreted as a rare manifestation of environmental dependency syndrome within a picture of a dysexecutive syndrome, likely due to a behavioural variant of fronto-temporal progressive dementia. The case highlights the need for considering kleptomania in older age, in the absence of a history of petty crimes, as the first appearance of a cerebral degeneration.
