Abstract
The so-called «third stream» of Italian universities concerns conducting research and transmitting knowledge. In the former case, «third stream» can be evaluated the way research is normally evaluated. In the latter case, we face the same problems we face when evaluating regular teaching. Therefore, it is not clear why «third stream» should be evaluated separately.
