Abstract
This paper reports category production norms for the Italian language. Three subject groups (200 university students, 30 young, low education subjects and 30 elderly, low education subjects) were asked to produce all the items belonging to a defined category that come to their mind in one minute. The categories were selected from Battig and Montague (1969) study in an English-speaking population. The frequency of occurrence of each element was then calculated for all categories. A preliminary analysis of the most frequent occerrences showed an effect of age and education on selected categories.
