Abstract

The effects of the interaction between cognitive and affective factors are a section of psychosocial research whose relevance in the study of intergroup processes has been more an more widely acknowledged. In the present work: a) a historical over-view of the development of this theoretical perspective is outlined, b) a terminological profile specific to the related literature is given, and c) some representative studies of this theoretical approach in three domains of current intergroup research are discussed.
