Abstract

The effect of implementation of cooperative learning in pairs versus individualistic learning was compared on achievement, perception of personal and academic support. Fifty-three Italian first grade students participated in this study throughout a two year period. Results show that by the end of the study students assigned to cooperative learning displayed a significantly higher perception of personal support from peers than students working individually. Considering achievement, subjects assigned to cooperative learning outperformed students assigned to individualistic learning condition.
