Abstract
Emotion regulation is a central topic in clinical studies'. Considering the intrapersonal and interpersonal perspectives from which research on emotion regulation starts, as well as the complex relationship between emotional regulation and motivational systems, this paper highlights theoretical and methodological aspects of the current debate on emotional regulation. The relevance of the relational approach to the study of emotion regulation is underlined in regard to the peculiar pertinence of the context, the flexibility of answer processes and to the coordination of the individual goals in respect to the others' one.
