Abstract
Power and social status represent two variables of crucial importance during interactions between individuals as they define and shape social hierarchies. However, only in recent years research has begun to look at how social stimuli are processed in accordance with their degree of power and social status. The aim of this review is to present the main achievements in this area, with special emphasis on processes such as perception, representation and organization of knowledge, attention and memory.
