Abstract

In this article we discuss the possible role of neuroscience in law framework and the benefits of its introduction in criminal trials. The discussion is based on published literature from both scientific and law fields focused on forensic neuroscience as well as on real Italian cases in which neuroscience has been. Our position is that the introduction of data from cognitive neurosciences in criminal trials can contribute to increase the objectivity of the traditional forensic psychiatric evaluation.
