Abstract
In this article, we propose a multi-disciplinary analysis on the subject of international migration. Using theoretical concepts of the sociology of migration studies, the social psychology of prejudice and an analysis of the current legal landscape we describe some mechanisms that characterize the current migration situation and the interpretation of its construction and consequences as a crisis. The final goal of this intervention paper is to provide elements to understand the full complexity of this phenomenon, that is often simplified in highly polarized debates, but has acquired a growing centrality in the public and political discourse both at a national and European level.
