Abstract

New legislation in Italy included Psychology within health professions but reduced their autonomy. A recent sentence of the Italian Supreme Court abolished responsibility of professionals appointed to carry out political duties. These two events contrast with the current professional ethics. Psychologists should decide whether to abide with the new legislation, hence modifying their ethical stance, or keep their Code of Conduct creating a conflict between the two guidelines.
