Abstract
The A. shows why and how the English School of IR deals with international institutions differently from the mainstream approaches to the topic, focusing on the constitutive institutions of modern international society, rather than on the institutional proliferation of the last century. This move, he maintains, gives the English School its own perspective on the relationship between institutions and power. Besides, its insights into the stability and change of the institutional dimension of the modern system of states allow us to better understand contemporary international politics.
