Abstract
This paper explores a dataset of 6.696 subsidies for farm development promoted by the "Cassa per il Mezzogiorno" in Southern Italy, between 1951 and 1968. The dataset allows us firstly to analyze the types of recipients and aims of the subsidized projects and as they evolved over time. Secondly, this paper uses data on date of filing, admission and execution to investigate the timing and speed of the plan. Thirdly, it uses geographical identifiers and GIS software to examine the spatial distribution of the intervention at the regional (NUTS 2) level.
