Abstract
Alessandro Baratta is mainly known for his «critical criminology». But his interest in philosophical theorization, which was present in his youth, was insistently revived in the mid-nineties. The author analyzes some of Baratta's works from the mentioned period, trying to show how the topic of human needs may be regarded as the unifying theme of his specifically philosophical works.
