Abstract

The Author carries out a critical reflection on research assessment practices in legal sciences. The relevance of research evaluation in connection with universities public funding and faculty recruitment is huge, and it is producing an important impact on research freedom as well. The introduction in the Italian University system of research assessment procedures together with technological development has had a deep impact on the typology of publications in legal matters, and on the quality of legal debate among scholars.
