Abstract
The essay is meant to contribute to the debate on the fate of economic globalization in an era – as the present one – characterized by the resurgence of geopolitical tensions. Moving from the observation of some ongoing trends concerning the re-emergence of national protectionist policies and the geographical reconfiguration of global value chains to render them shorter and more resilient, the author reflects upon the role of law in shaping the new global economic order, also considering the usefulness that the development of uniform rules governing commercial international relationships may still represent today.
