Abstract

This paper deals with the issues raised by algorithmic decision-making in the private and in the public sector. After having considered the problems of regulation concerning the collection of information needed for most processes of machine learning, it focuses on the issues of transparency, accountability and bias inherent in algorithmic decision-making. The last part of the paper deals with the remedies developed by European law, and namely those afforded by the GDPR and by some recent national regulatory schemes.
