Abstract
This contribution aims to review the problem of the Italian transition from a diachronic and synchronic perspective. The purpose is to analyze some developments that have affected the systems of France and the United Kingdom in very recent times and also the debate on the possible changes to the Italian form of government in the direction of a non-elective premiership.
