Abstract
This paper contributes to the general topic of the issue – Religions in Globalization – by providing a few elements to reflect upon the renewed role of religion in light of the debate on secularization and postsecularization. The essay will first of all question the validity of lemmas such as the «end» of secularisation and «return» of religion by placing them within the wider framework of the crisis of modernity. Along the same lines, the essay will briefly focus on the notion of secularisation itself, as to clarify the conditions whereby the dyad secular/postsecular may be a viable tool for investigating the contradictory morphology of the globalised world, in spite of its evidently Western-centred heritage.
