Abstract

The relationship between religions and globalization can be examined from a double perspective: the effects of globalization on religions and the role of religions in globalization processes. The first part examines some effects of globalization on religions, while the second examines from a historical perspective the way in which universalist religions like Christianity have from the beginning shown globalizing tendencies, which have progressively strengthened in the modern era. These ‘universal’ religions have now become global.
