Abstract
Since September 2022 and the violent death of Mahsa Amini, whose only fault was wearing the so-called bad hejāb, Iranian society is contesting the Islamic regime and the laws that, while limiting freedom and opportunities for women, also affect the chances for development of the whole country. An analysis of the juridical background of the protests can offer keys to understand what is actually going on in Iran
