Abstract
The contribution examines the trajectories of constitutional secularity in France, Belgium, Italy and Spain from a comparative perspective. In particular, identifying a distinction between a laicity-neutrality and a laicity-relation, the article dwells on how the principle of laicity has been used, in recent years, to ‘cope’ with the social transformations induced by globalisation and the transformation of the religious phenomenon
