Abstract
The paper focuses on the most relevant and controversial issues of policies relating to religions and churches in the Federal Republic of Germany. It highlights the statistical and constitutional basis of these policies. It calls specific attention to agreements with Islamic comunities, the teaching of Islam in schools and the recent federal law on circumcision. The paper argues that the current ban on non-medical circumcision is unconstitutional.
