Abstract
The contribution examines the aspects of the new general Decree of the Italian Bishops' Conference on the protection of the right to good reputation and confidentiality, adopted in accordance with the European Regulation n. 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data. It highlights how the canon law intend to safeguard the right of the Church to use personal data to achieve its institutional purposes and, at the same time, the personal dignity.
