Abstract
This article is examines the case law of the European Court of Human Rights by using the keyword «Islam». Despite the linguistic biases of such a starting point, the sample of nearly 400 judgements and decisions gathered in this way uncovers the main trends in how the Council of Europe handles Islam. Paralleling traditional issues pertaining to state religion relationships, the examination of this corpus of case law reveals the important role played by state opposition to Islamic terrorism in cases brought before the court, in particular litigation of the removal of aliens.
