Abstract
Jurisdiction over the Orthodox diaspora presents problems and incongruities from canonical and ecclesiological points of view. Almost everywhere, the hierarchies of different Orthodox Churches overlap the same territory, a phenomenon forbidden by the most authoritative canonical legislation. Indeed, the local Church has a territorial dimension, not an ethnic one. In 2016, the Council of Crete approved the establishment of liaison bodies between Orthodox jurisdictions in the same territory.
