Abstract
The essay investigates the phenomenon of labour exploitation through the analysis of an emblematic case study which embodies the characteristics of this phenomenon in agriculture. As a result of the abuse of current Italian legislation, the author sheds some light on the unseemly working conditions that regard two types of workers who differ in their legal status. On the one hand, there are foreign fruit-picking workers, on the other, there are Italian sellers of agricultural products. Despite differences between these workers, labour rights violations seem to occur in both working conditions. Considering the above, according to the author, it is important to reflect on the adoption of various legal and contractual measures in order to prevent labour exploitation. Thecase study has been carried out through review based on the analysis of the legislative framework and of some documentation, such as inspection reports, litigations and newspapers.
