Abstract

The essay aims to propose a reflection on the reasons for the diffusion of intensive agricultural production systems that are the cause of the impoverishment of natural resources and various forms of labour exploitation. Through this reflection, the author examines the corrective tools and the regulatory solutions that are necessary to achieve a transition towards an environmentally and socially sustainable agri-food system. The author underlines the importance of redefinition of the rules, especially in view of climate change that will intensify the pressure on natural resources of the planet as well as the expected increase in world population that will require an increase in agricultural production with the wellfounded risk of an aggravation of working conditions
