Abstract

The purpose of the essay is to ascertain whether Italian Workers' Statute can still play a topical role in the present socio-economic framework, in which the concept of undertaking has largely evolved since 1970, and the needs of the undertakings have been increasingly taken into account by the legislator. As the author observes, the Italian "Statuto dei lavoratori" recalls us that the season of the strengthening of fundamental rights is not yet over. However, it is necessary that such reinforcement does not concern only the class of employees. On the contrary, it must be the by-product of a renewed conception of work as a right of social citizenship.
