Abstract

The essay proposes some reflections, by a gender-based perspective, concerning the emerging problems for working women in the field of health and safety protection at workplaces. In fact, some recent statistics show us not only the growing rate of accidents at work between temporary workers in Italy, but also the greater increasing of this rate between working women (temporary or also full-time employed). On the contrary, till today the widespread approach to health and safety topics have usually been gender-blind. The Author notes that such a perspective must change and that it seems necessary to adopt a renewed conception concerning these issues, which might be gender oriented and might envisage the possible disparate impact of risks and accidents at work between women and men, looking also at how these risks could be related with the persistence of many difficulties for Italian working women in managing the life/work balance.
