Abstract
The author aims at awakening a debate among labour law scholars on "the state of the field". On the one hand, there has been a quantitative expansion of this subject; on the other, however, labour law seems to have lost, on the author's opinion, its extraordinary and eclectic cultural strenght. The author calls, therefore, for a rescue of the wider social dimension which is the essence of this discipline.
