Abstract
The first part of the article analyses the present situation of law education in Italy: law faculties are undergoing a deep reform which is not yet completely drafted and which has been conceived in the prospect of an European co-ordination of University education. The reform includes a new specialised "Law School" for judges and practitioners. In this frame, the author underlines the crisis of traditional teaching methods and describes the outline of an experiment carried out at the University of Ferrara. The experiment was based on a reading list shorter than usual textbooks and on particular conditions of examination granted to students who proved to have attended the course of lectures (attending courses is normally not compulsory in Italian Universities).
