Abstract
The XX century has been characterised by labour law and the end of the century by its crisis: the Author interprets the signs of this crisis, first of all the present tendency to individualism, as a mature product of the social achievements of previous periods. In Europe, where labour law was born, will be probably the "capability for being employed" instead of "stability" or "flexibility" to ground a new idea of social citizenship, while international sources should elaborate instruments to guarantee social justice in a global economy.
