Abstract
Can the authors of the "promotional law" theory of the late sixties be considered "classics"? Stating from this question, the essay analized the role of the legal scholars in the developments of Italian labour law which took place after the "big disorder" of 1969, and their interpretation of the links between industrial relations, political system and labour law rules in the pluralist system. The autor mantains that their ideological approach to the social transformations led them to underestimate both the capacity of the political system to evolve towards a modern pluralistic model and the new institutional role assigned to the unions by the Statute of workers of 1970.
