Abstract
The author re-reads and discusses the essay by Mario Giovanni Garofalo "Un profilo ideologico del diritto del lavoro", published in 1999, considered the summary of Garofalo's contribution to labour law studies, focusing on its present relevance. In the first part, the author retraces the steps of its arguments. Then the scientific method is under examination, together with the theoretical categories and the lexicon - legal and not only legal - used by Garofalo. In the last part of the work, the author approaches critically the content of the examined essay, expressing some disagreement and consensus with most of its conclusions.
