Abstract
The paper analyzes the constants and variations on the subject of subordination and self-employment. The concepts of subordination and autonomy retain their function of systemic differentiation but are subjected to stresses that require new regulatory assumptions, especially for the indipendent - economically dependent work. The recent Italian legislation (Jobs Act) is however limited to extend selectively the discipline of employment to the hetero-organized work, without addressing the issue of self-employment, which requires a new regulation aimed at protection and promotion.
