Abstract

There is a wide debate on the levels of violence displayed in tv entertainment contents. Also in Italy, where the show Gomorra La Serie has been criticised for the stereotypical representation of crime and its power to trigger (negative) emulation. Can TV crime fiction broadcast a violent social model? Could it really affect the perception of justice? The proposed classification starts from four milestones of crime literature, which originate four categories of representation in crime fiction. In absence of scientific evidence of a direct impact, any possible consequences might affect the sphere of social demands for security.
