Cultural welfare, a pillar of territorial policy. The experience of Reggio Emilia

Download

Abstract

Palazzo Magnani in Reggio Emilia, active as an exhibition venue for art and culture since 1997, in 2016 started an itinerary on the vision of art, enjoyed and practised, as one of the main levers a community has at its disposal to foster individual evolution, inclusion and social cohesion. Hence wellbeing. This vision is embedded in a broader framework of public policies based on the principle that if you design for the most fragile, what you achieve will be good for everyone. Human diversity, social inclusion and equality: these are the key concepts of design for all that have inspired the institution’s productions over the last five years. The encounter with fragility in co-design processes is a specific added value to the project: in the dimension of fragility lie unexpected resources and, in some ways, decisive added values.
