Abstract

The paper presents the results of a qualitative research concerning social services provided by the municipalities in Abruzzo after the earthquake that took place in L'Aquila in 2009. Interviews with managers of social services revealed that most of the municipalities in Abruzzo has been involved in aid to earthquake victims through the intervention of ad hoc services. The Civil Protection has played a central role in the provision of services and activities related to the earthquake of L'Aquila, and had close contacts with the municipal social services sector.
