Abstract

The ADHD Rating Scale-5 is a questionnaire widely used on the international scene for diagnostic evaluation, screening and research purposes. The aim of the study presented is to illustrate the psychometric characteristics of the Italian version of the questionnaire, to make a comparison between parent and teacher versions, and to verify whether there are differences concerning functional impairment in ADHD-at risk group. The study involved a sample of 1056 students (M = 12.17; SD = 3.27). The ADHD Rating Scale-5 showed good psychometric properties (factor analysis and internal consistency). A moderate degree of agreement between parents and teachers emerged, with higher ratings from parents. It was observed that the subgroup with hyperactivity shows less impairment in school than the inattentive and combined subgroups. In general, the combined subgroup shows higher levels of impairment.
