Abstract

The present study explores the production of grammatical morphology. It investigates definite articles, direct object clitics and the third person inflection in the present tense verb form. Seventy-eight Italian-speaking children participated; they were divided in two groups: 2;6 to 3 years old. Results show that no grammatical morphology is acquired; the clitic pronouns are not produced at the age of 2;6 years. The study confirms that the production of the singular forms is greater than plural forms; the verbal conjugation is produced more than articles and clitics. Moreover the results confirm the presence of substitutions in the verbal conjugations; in the definite articles and clitic pronouns errors of omission occur.
