Abstract
Three models of person-environment interaction are discussed: the Diathesisstress and the two most recent "Differential Susceptibility" and "Vantage Sensitivity" models. This review provides a theoretical and empirical basis for a new perspective on individual-enviornment interaction, moving beyond the traditional and noteworthy "Diathesis-Stress" model towards the most recent models proposed in this field. Specifically, the role of differential plasticity to environmental influences, for better and for worse, is discussed as a new approach for studying personenvironment interaction. Finally, new directions for research, study design and clinical applications are discussed.
