Abstract
The early identification of Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is important for timely and efficient interventions. Information useful for the diagnosis of ASD can be collected from different sources. Parents may offer a unique perspective on the child's behavior. The Parent Interview for Autism - Clinical Version (PIA-CV) is a useful tool for assessing children with ASD because it has good psychometric characteristics, it can be used with very young children, it is sensitive to behavioural changes and has a parent-centred reporting nature. The aim of this study is twofold: 1) to present the process of translation and the Italian version of PIA-CV and 2) to verify if there are statistically significant differences between a groups of children with Autism and a group of children with typical development matched on mental age.
